| | Sergio Antoy received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the
University of Maryland in 1987 and joined Portland State
University in 1990. He became full professor in 1996 and since
2004 he is an associate chair for graduate education. He
regularly teaches graduate-level courses on programming languages
and software design and architecture and is professionally active
in his research area. His research is focused on the theory of
narrowing strategies and the implementation of functional logic
programming languages. These are declarative, very high-level
programming languages suitable for computation involving
incomplete information and non-determinism. Further details are
