Minor in Computer Science

Students who choose to major in other fields can still study computer science and earn a Minor. To earn a minor in computer science, a student must complete 36 credits as follows:

  • CS162 Introduction to Computer Science (4 credits)
  • CS163 Data Structures (4 credits)
  • CS201 Computer Systems Programming (4 credits)
  • CS202 Programming Systems (4 credits)
  • Lower/Upper Division Computer Science Elective #1 (4 credits)
  • Lower/Upper Division Computer Science Elective #2 (4 credits)
  • Upper Division Computer Science Elective #1 (4 credits)
  • Upper Division Computer Science Elective #2 (4 credits)
  • Upper Division Computer Science Elective #3 (4 credits)

Only grades of C or better count toward departmental requirements. At least 16 of the required 36 credits must be taken at Portland State University. After completion of CS 162, CS 163, CS 201, and CS 202, students interested in a computer science minor should apply to the computer science program. CS 404 credits may not be used towards a minor.
